Our School: Governing Body and the PTA

We are fortunate at Dry Sandford to have a dedicated and enthusiastic group of people acting both as governors and as members of our Parent Teacher Association (PTA).

Our Governing Body

Seeing stars...The Governing Body is composed of parents, staff, LEA representatives and members of the community with an interest in the school.

Their role is to set broad aims and targets for the school and to monitor the results for which, in turn, they are accountable.

Their central responsibility is to ensure that the School adopts high standards in educational skills and personal development, so that each individual child makes rewarding use of their abilities to realise their full potential.

The Chair of Governors is Jan Bartlett.

School PlayOur PTA meet regularly to plan fundraising events for the school.  These are a variety of events aimed at adult, children and family entertainment.  In the past the PTA have run quiz nights, discos and car boot sales.  The biggest event is the annual summer fete, closely followed by the Christmas Fair.  Both of these contribute enormously to funds and are supported by a raffle.

The money raised by the PTA is spent by the school on resources to support the children's learning.  The PTA have also subsidised trips out of school and paid for groups visiting the school for music and drama events.  The PTA's continued support of the school is invaluable to our ability to provide the extras that the budget cannot cover.

New members are always welcomed - the more ideas we can generate the better!

The current Chair of the PTA is Kate Newman. To get involved, please contact Kate directly - her phone number is available from Karen Rutty in the School Office.
