Dry Sandford: Have fun learning!

August 2016

Hello Everyone,

Looking forward to seeing you all on Tuesday, 1st November as we have an INSET day on the Monday.

Hope you have all had some time to make your ‘Dream Jar’ for our Story Room and write your description/ poem/ short story. Any thing else ‘Roald Dahl’ linked for the story room would be gratefully received. We are hoping to have a BFG head for our window, and we already have some lovely cushions and bunting.

One of the many exciting events of the end of last year was that we bought a double decker bus for the school… We really need this space because of the speed with which our numbers are rising; the Learning Centre is now a classroom!

This project is now well on the way and the bus will be installed in the next couple of weeks!

There are discussion rooms for adults and children/ sand play/water play/ sensory space/ wild- life observation space and places for children to do all sorts of 1:1 and small group learning.

I am so grateful to the people who have been involved in fund-raising and in persuading local businesses to provide resources to carry out the conversion.  We have managed to create the bus through donations and grants: Timbmet have been incredibly generous-supplying all of the timber to create the interior of the bus; Pride Horseboxes has done all of the work free of charge.  There is still  quite a large shortfall however as many resources require purchase in order to move the project along. Please look out on Newsletters for information about how you can help.

These are some of the many many bits and pieces that Becky (one of our amazing parents) has made. She has re-upholstered all of the seats in the bus, with a variety of fun materials donated by Clarke and Clarke…to say nothing of the motivational and sensory bits that she has made… Thank you!

We are on ‘Facebook’ . Please look us up under ‘Dry Sandford School Bus Renovation Project’ where you will be able to find out what we need. The sooner we have the resources, the sooner the bus will be built and the children will be able to enjoy it and enhance their learning.

See  you all soon!

Dear Parents,

Welcome to our school website. This website is designed to give you a glimpse of the range of opportunities available at Dry Sandford School as well as an insight into the things we consider important in the education of our children.

Parents and visitors to our school often comment on the warm and friendly atmosphere.  We aim for every child to have a happy and active primary education in an environment that is caring and supportive.  We try to provide stimulation and structure so that all children are able to reach their full potential.

If you are a prospective parent looking for an admission place for your child, I would be delighted if you would come along to meet us in person and look around the school.   Before you look around, some of our pupils would like to tell you a bit about their school…
